Play Therapy

When our children hurt, we hurt.  So much of the hurt and confusion children face today is beyond their ability to express in words.  When they start to feel overwhelmed by emotions or circumstances we will see changes in their behavior and emotional expression.  Anger, crying, withdrawal, problems at school, anxiety, and other signs of being stuck or stressed signal that they could use a supportive, play-filled environment.

Sometimes, as adults we also have strong emotions that are difficult to express in words.  Words and emotions are stored in different areas of the brain.  Play therapy and expressive therapies can help grown-ups as well as kids.

At Blanket Fort Therapy I have a certification in Play Therapy.   See the video below to see why play therapy is so valuable in helping children (and adults) express their emotions.  Toys are childrens' words.  Play is their path to healing.  Please make an appointment or contact Kari for more information about play therapy services.
